Akha Child’s Cap

Akha boys and girls wear tight-fitting cloth caps that distinguish them from children of other hill tribes. As a child gets older, the caps become more ornate. When an adolescent girl is engaged to marry, she is entitled to begin wearing the adult woman’s elaborate headdress.
